TOKYO -- It’s D-day on Oct. 10 for the Canadian men’s team at the world championships in Tokyo.

Six gymnasts led by Olympic veterans Nathan Gafuik of Calgary, Ken Ikeda of Abbotsford, B.C., and Brandon O’Neill of Edmonton, will be going all out to clinch a full-team berth at the 2012 Olympics next summer with a top-eight finish.

Live blogging of the Canadian team begins  at 3:30 am EST, Monday, on the Gymnastics Canada Twitter feed.

If they don’t make top eight, placing anywhere from 9-16 will earn a spot at a last-chance qualification meet in January to determine the final four teams.

It’s no secret the team would like to cut to the chase and punch it’s ticket to the Games now, avoiding the pre-Olympic qualifier. The Canadians are well placed near the end of the second and last day of men’s qualification and after leaving the floor will be watching and waiting to learn their fate as the final teams, including top-ranked China, complete the sixth and final rotation.
