Alberta athletes added one gold and three bronze medals to bring their opening-weektotal to 29 (9 gold, 7 silver, 13 bronze). Despite dropping one spot to third place overall in the medal standings, Alberta has had one of its best first weeks ever at the Canada Winter Games. Quebec leads the way with 56 medals, while BritishColumbia has reached the podium 35 times.
Edmonton’s Bobby Kriangkum Shares Gold in Men’s Gymnastics Pommel Horse
Bobby Kriangkum had the best minute of his lifewhile on the biggest stage of his young athletic career when he won the goldmedal on the pommel horse in men’s gymnastics.
The 16-year-old Edmontonian finished deadlocked at 13.150 with Zach Clay of British Columbia for top spot.
“This feels just great. From training so hard and have it pay off on this great stage is amazing. “In just 40 seconds and this happens is just incredible. The Games have been such a great learning experience for me and something I will take with me forever.” Ontario’s Simon Porter rounded out the podium in third at 12.950.
