Athletes from China, Japan, Spain, Great Britain, and Puerto Rico joined Canadian athletes from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec at this year's Canada Cup event.  .Alberta was a strong presence at this competition both in numbers and in results.  Thunder Country, Phoenix, CGC, Airdrie and Airborne all had athletes competing and Alberta was represented across all levels and competitive events.

Canada Cup is the final qualifying meet for top athletes in their bid to make the Canadian teams to both the Senior World Championships and the World Age Group Championships in Metz, France this November.  In the end Alberta will be well represented on both teams as we will see in official communication from Gymnastics Canada later this week.

The Cup is also an opportunity for athletes to level up as a grand finale to their season.  We had a number of athletes stepping up to Open or Youth and a whole crew of wide-eyed young ones raising the bar to Novicve for the first time.  They looked great and performed with great aplomb along with having an obvious great time.

Between nearby Niagara Falls and Canada's Wonderland the Mississauga event provided opportunities for leisure as well as performance.  Everyone enjoyed some time in the sun and the company of new and long-time friends.  Now they come away proud of their accomplishments and excited to build for the next event.
