Team Alberta Takes Advantage of Competing at Home!

Team AB was a force to be reckoned with this past week! Alberta sent a WAG contingent of 56 individuals and a MAG team consisting of 31 participants. Both teams performed extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Grande Prairie.
WAG Results Summary
WAG Highlights include:
· National Novice – 1st place TEAM
· National Open – 1st place TEAM
- 1st and 3rd place AA winners (Emily Lennon and Kiana Amiot)
- 5 Event Finals medalists
· P5 Tyro – 1st place TEAM
- Top 3 AA winners were from AB; Aerie Freedman, Carissa Sebelius & Apollonia Pucci
- 8 Event Finals medalists
· P5 Novice – 3rd place TEAM
- 3 Event Finals medalists
· P5 Open – 2nd place TEAM
- 1st and 3rd place AA winners; Sara Zack and Tateum Mcphearson
- Hometown favourite, Sara Zack won medals on all four Event Finals
· Pre Novice Aspire
- 2nd and 3rd place AA winners (Mackenzie Kennedy and Alyson Arcand)
· Pre Novice Elite
- 2 Event medals
MAG Results Summary
The Level 4 Team award was won by BC but Alberta placed a very respectable 2nd place in spite of Donovan Groessel from WestWind needing to be replaced by Korey Matte from Dynamyx due to an injury at the last minute.
In the Level 4 All-round our top placing athlete was Mason Smith from U of C with a Bronze medal. Alberta also won a total of 8 medals in the Level 4 event finals.
Alberta also won the silver medal for the Youth/Open Team award. With Alan Ng and Conner Trepannier both from Exelta winning silver and bronze in the All-round for Youth. In the Youth event finals Alberta came away with 6 medals in total.
In the Open category the top All round lone Albertan was Graham Plomp from Dynamyx with a silver medal. In the event finals Graham won 4 individual medals.
When the Argo boys took to the equipment it was Antonio Fernandez from the Calgary Gymnastics Center who placed as the top Albertan in the All-round with a Bronze Medal. In the event finals Alberta came home with 4 individual medals.
