Non-competitive Program Director
Scope of the position
Direct, manage, evaluate and create non-competitive programs and external facility use.

Direct
Responsibilities
1. In conjunction with the Executive/Technical Director and the Head Coach the overall direction of the non-competitive programs with regard to the philosophy of high quality instruction and client satisfaction.
2. Set the parameters and costs for all external facility use.
3. Ensure all operational policy and procedures with regard to non-competitive programs are set and approved by the Executive/Technical Director
Manage
Responsibilities
1. Ensure all non-competitive programs are adequately staffed according to SCGC and Alberta Gymnastic Federation Policies.
2. Manage all non-competitive registrations through the use of the Active Net on line registration system.
3. Mange the scheduling of all external facility use
4. Ensure all external facility users understand and abide by the terms of use.
5. Facilitate and manage the use of the Kid Sport and Jump Start Programs.
6. Manage the Advertising and Marketing Plan as approved for the current budget year.
7. Manage Alberta Gymnastic Federation registrations in co-ordination with the Administrator.
8. Daily supervision in co-ordination with the Recreation Supervisor of all coaches in non-competitive programs.
9. Client services and administrative duties relevant to the non-competitive programs.
Evaluate
Responsibilities
1. Evaluate the technical content of all non-competitive programs in co-ordination with the Executive/Technical Director and the Competitive Program Director.
2. Evaluate on a daily basis the performance of all non-competitive staff and provide feedback when necessary.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of any in house training systems.
4. Evaluate equipment needs.
Create
Responsibilities
1. Create new and innovative non-competitive programs.
2. Create in house learning activities as needed.
3. Create motivational activities for non-competitive staff.
Salary Range:  $45,000 to $50,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
An additional amount of $75 per month is paid for health care.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Compulsory JO 1 - 5 Coach will focus on JO Compulsory Level gymnastics. The candidate will be part of the coaching team that develops athletes that will one day potentially compete for their Club and Team Alberta.

The Compulsory JO 1 - 5 Coach must have extensive knowledge of the JO WAG Competition Requirements and Code of Points, at least 1 year experience coaching and be able to coach all four events with specializations on multiple apparatus.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

  • Be the primary contact for your specific group.
  • Conduct parent/athlete meetings, when requested
  • Complete all required documentation for meets
  • Provide WAG Director accurate and extensive information regarding athlete levels, injuries, concerns, as well as training programs
  • Assist in Developing, planning, and coordinating training programs
  • Liaise with various regional, provincial governing associations and local affiliates
  • Attend training camps, as well as provincial sanctioned events, and actively engage in provincial program initiatives

COACHING DUTIES:

  • Prepare, motivate, and train our athletes for gymnastics competitions in the Compulsory Levels
  • Plan develop and implement training plans
  • Participate in coaching clinic instruction.
  • Analyze and evaluate athlete and team performance and modify training program accordingly.
  • Nurture and develop our Compulsory JO 1 – 5 athletes’ potential skills and abilities.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Part-Time Position
  • The work schedule is 3 - 4 days per week, totalling 10 - 15 hours per week. The candidate may be required to work various hours depending on training/competition needs.
  • Must be available to help with covering shifts if needed.

The Recreational Director will focus on the Recreational Program ensuring the day to day operations inside and outside the gym, are well run and maintained and all of the recreational coach's needs are met. We’re looking for coaches and strategic planners who are excited to join us in the learning and multi-tasking it takes to run our gymnastics club.

Your coaching experience can be in any of our club’s programs: Rec, T&T or Artistic. If you’re on the strategic side, you’re interested in the opportunities within our non-profit structure. Education

  • Observe and evaluate prospective athletes' skills and performance.

Applicants must have an NCCP Level 3 Certificate, have NCCP Level 3 Certificate in progress, or origin country NCCP 3 equivalent.  Applicants must also have a minimum of 3 years of women's artistic gymnastics coaching experience working with the 8-18 year old age group.  Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have coached and mentored women's artistic gymnasts through a progression up to and including elite/national levels including participation at national championships.
